Government to buy EUR 2.3m worth building in Budapest for a Chinese university
That would be the Shanghai-based university’s first campus abroad. Based on a government decree, it will receive a building in Budapest to start its education program.
According to mfor.hu, the government accepted a separate decree for the Chinese Fudan University and will help to establish its first campus abroad. They wrote that they agree with the university’s aim to start an education program in Budapest, and therefore, they would buy a building for the institution.
The decree does not specify the building, but mfor.hu says that the government probably already found it. The fact that the government allocated exactly 821,492,000 HUF (EUR 2,265,000) supports that hypothesis. According to the plans, they will pay that from the 2021 budget.
The appearance of the Chinese university
provoked political debates.
This is because the government did everything to chase away the Central European University (CEU) even though that was the best institution of higher education in Hungary. Meanwhile, they do everything to attract a Chinese university and help establish their first campus abroad in Hungary. Furthermore, the government attacked the CEU because they issued two diplomas. However, that will be one of the main attractions of Fudan University, as well.

According to the plans, the campus
will be ready by 2024.
Then, they will start education in four or five programs. Levente Horváth, the chairman’s chief advisor in the Hungarian National Bank, said that these areas will probably be economics, international relations, medicine, and engineering. The planned
student number will be around 5-6,000 with more than 500 teachers.
As we reported before, the Hungarian government hopes that the campus’s presence in Budapest will help to transform the country into a “regional knowledge hub”. The Hungarian government also cites the “outstanding research record” of Fudan, affirming that the new campus will “enhance” the educational standards of Hungarian universities. This could be vital for Hungary’s economy. A spokesperson for the Hungarian government said that the Chinese government views the new campus in Hungary as “a priority project of bilateral cooperation.”
“The initiative is equally in line with the policy of easterly opening,
the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative,
and the goals of the cultural, scientific and educational treaty between the two countries which was renewed in last November,” the spokesperson said. Fudan University is ranked 40th in the QS World University Ranking.
The University has more than
4,500 lecturers who teach around 30,000 students.
Additionally, Fudan University has previously partnered with the Corvinus University of Budapest in offering a double MBA program. Hungary will provide land, teaching and research facilities for the new campus in Budapest, as well as legal and administrative support. Meanwhile, Fudan University will aspire to offer novel majors catering to local and European contexts. It will hone in on emerging interdisciplinary foci, thereby facilitating research, as well as training programs, thus promoting high-tech innovation in Hungary.

Diabolically wrong and incorrect decision, by the Government, that will fragment, and disjoint Academia in Hungary.
This deepening spreading rand blossoming relationship with China, that is evident, the agenda of our Government, is Dangerous and Wrong.
It is fraught with mass vulnerability and political uncertainty, and will be increasingly evident, by the migrant immigration flexibility – that is currently extended to the Chinese in Budapest, Hungary and ongoing.
Contractually – in foreign relationships, if this proceeds, lessons countries globally at present, are learning, there “bottom lines” demolished, through the Chinese attitude of – don’t blame us – your are the problem, therefor we shall withdraw our relationship or trading from you and move on.
China – there way – what’s in it for them – dominates there way of thinking.

Hungary, is making a dangerous mistake in its rapidly growing and expanding partnership and relationship with China, which will open the flood gates, by ongoing “special arrangements” of immigration into Hungarian society, and places of learning.

Dangerous direction that this article is centered on, and it should and will send rightfully gigantic ripples throughout “houses of learning” and those who Educate that have or will realize, the serious consequences of a University that is a “veiled” off shore Chinese institution of learning – functioning the Chinese way.

Blatant favouritism – preferential privileges – totally lacking in Economic rationality – for Hungary, these are just a few examples of the WRONGNESS associated with – in the growing developing economic and trading immigration arrangements and partnership with China.
55 Days at Peking.
Not the worst movie for younger generations to take time and watch.
Has a degree of correctness in its PLOT, the Chinese way of handling situations.
Do agree you upset the Dragon there will be but one winner and he will take all.
The recent and un-resolved Australian – China foreign trading partnership, the position China has played and maintains, should be a massive learning curve to Hungary of not getting into bed with them – China.
Bit of Interest in this article – as there should be because, if Hungary continue to pursue this vibrant relationship with China, the National Elections in 2022 will reflect annoyance and dissatisfaction to large and increasing numbers of Hungarians this “marriage” that has developed with The Peoples Republic of China.
Its a dangerous path to tread and county’s are feeling the aftermath of the Chinese way of trade and foreign relationships, as I write.
Lady Sara Robinson – line from the film 55 Days at Peking – ” Do you remember what Napoleon said about China ?
To which the reply came from her Husband – Sir Arthur Robertson – “I never forget it : “Let China sleep. For when she awakens, the world will tremble.”
The film – 55 Days at Peking made in 1963 – all those past years and the Robinsons, hit the nail on the head, not to go against the Sleeping Dragon as it will crush you – the Chinese way of the 21st century.
We reside in District V.
We enjoy taking tram 28 out to Kobunyai ut – to do indulge in a little Chinese Shopping, at the old Ganz-MAVAG factories – The Chinese Markets.
It is an existing 21st century example, of a dilapidated communist area that meets the Far East //
Increasing it has become over the past (4) four years the Chinese expansion of businesses and numbers of Chinese people and store shop operators.
Further note of interest through observation is the high quality class of imported motor vehicles that are parked or being driven around the area and complex.
Must make mass numbers of Hungarians envious of the wealth on display through the prestigious range and class of motor vehicles – that are part of – The Chinese Market – World and Culture.
Hungary – the people of Hungary be Careful – very very Careful, at what is unfolding in this Chinese – Hungarian relationship.
Throughout history larger countries have dominated smaller countries.
Look what is happening to Hungary and the EU.
The controlling machinery is deadly (overt and covert).
